¡Viva Arts! 2007Doubles Its Support of the Arts! |
On Saturday, September 29, ¡VIVA ARTS! enjoyed a second year of unqualified success. Many businesses, VIPs, friends, and supporters of the Civic Arts Ed program helped raise over $21,000 for scholarships. Hosted by the Friends of Civic Arts Education Foundation, the fundraiser was able to double the amount of money it raised one year ago. Money raised will provide scholarships for children to attend classes and programs ranging from the Fine Arts Preschool through art, music, dance and drama.
The evening started off with a terrific silent auction, a “wine pull” and fabulous food - all donated by local restaurants, wine mercha nts and caterers. At 8:30, the program moved to the Shadelands Auditorium, which had been transformed into a scene of music, dancing and color. After introductions by Mayor, Sue Rainey, young Arts Ed scholarship and performing arts students presented several recitals. This was followed by the able instruction of professional dancer and instructor, Adrian Flores, of the non-profit “Building Respect through Dance.” Soon after, members of the hot Latin band, La Vantana took center stage while everyone joined in non-stop salsa dancing.
Don’t miss out on next year’s opportunity to support a great cause while enjoying the year’s hottest party! Look for an announcement soon, but in the meantime save the date: Saturday, September 27, 2008.
