Scholarships
The Friends of Civic Arts Education and the City of Walnut Creek have a limited number of scholarships available to assist families needing safe, high-quality arts and preschool programs for their children and themselves. Our goal is to raise and allocate funds to families who demonstrate the greatest need. Scholarships are offered in the form of reduced payments, and an existing scholarship fund covers the cost of this program.
Scholarship contributions are tax- deductible and are gratefully accepted by the Friends of Civic Arts Foundation.

Friends Foundation Donations Make A Difference In A Challenging Economy
With this challenging economy, many children have limited afterschool activities. They watch while others enjoy the excitement of working in clay or playing a musical instrument.
The Friends of Civic Arts Education Foundation was founded by people who believed these experiences are key to a child’s healthy growth and development.
In 2005-2006, $4,745 was raised to provide scholarships for low income kids to attend the 5-week Arts, Adventures, & Academics summer program, keeping them busy and engaged. Volunteer efforts grew to bring in $10,700 in 2006-07 and $26,600 in 2007-09 for much needed support for kids both in summer and in after-school programs and classes. Requests for support for local children has increased and in 2009, $40,321 was provided in full and partial youth scholarships for drama, dance, music and visual arts classes and programs.
Currently, contributions are down and the need has continued to increase. The Foundation would like to provide 25 scholarships this summer for low income youngsters who have been designated by the schools as needing a summer program. Please donate generously to help a child enjoy a fulfilling and educational summer arts experience!
