Supported Communities

CAE is composed of a number of satellite programs, which benefit school-aged children as well as adults. They include Fine Arts Preschool; ArtReach; Arts, Adventures & Academics; Youth Theatre; Youth Orchestra of Diablo Valley; Dance Apprentice Company; Professional Intermediate Dance Program; Jazz Ensemble; “Make Your Mark” Teen Art Program; Flock of Flutes and Clay Arts Guild.  Following are descriptions of a few of the satellite programs.

 

Civc Arts Education LogoCivic Arts Education

Civic Arts Education is Northern California's largest community arts education program and part of the City of Walnut Creek Cultural Services Department. Each quarter Civic Arts Education offers 130 classes, workshops and programs attended by 1800 preschoolers through senior citizens. Clay Arts GuildClay Arts Guild

The Clay Arts Guild offers its members the use of one of the oldest and best-equipped ceramic studios in the Bay Area. The main goal of the Clay Arts Guild is to offer an educational setting where participants can learn and share basic skills in ceramics. All members can participate in this studio where the emphasis is on developing skill, not production ceramics. Studio equipment includes: electric wheels, kick wheels, cone 10 reduction kilns, electric kilns for low fire, raku kiln, salt kiln, slab roller, extruder, fully equipped damp and glaze rooms and large work areas. The Fine Arts preschool is a developmental early childhood program using an integrated curriculum of visual art, music movement, and dramatic activities as a base for meaningful, experiential and creative learning. ArtReach LogoArtReach

ArtReach, the outreach arm of Civic Arts Education, serves children, teachers  and school districts through partnerships supported in part by the U.S.  Department of Education and the California Department of Education ArtReach provides art and arts education programs that engage students and inspire the classroom teacher. Beyond focusing on “creating artists,” the programs are about providing new, vital approaches to learning in and through the arts. ArtReach offers a broad array of traditional and innovative arts programs including, but not limited to, in-class residencies, after-school programs, staff development, coaching sessions and skills and appreciation development in Visual Art, Theatre, Music, and Dance/Movement - standards-based and supported by the latest research. Arts, Adventures & Academics (AAA)

The Arts, Adventures & Academics (AAA) summer program is a unique, five-week enrichment program providing over 225 students from K through 8th grade with opportunities for exploration, creativity and hands-on learning during the summer.  This year the Friends Foundation was able to provide 20 students with full scholarships.
